National Science Day
National
Science Day celebrations of Government College of Engineering, Salem was
organised on 13th March, 2020, in the Padmashree Muthaiyan
auditorium of the institution. The
Science association of the college conducted about 11 competitions for the I
year B.E students and around 350 students took part in the various events. The students who secured the first three
prizes were awarded books, certificates and memento on the day of celebration
as a token of appreciation. The
executive members of the science association were also appreciated for their
active role. The president of the
Science Assosiation, Dr.R.Vimala, Head of Physics, Mathematics and English
departments, delivered the key note address on the theme of the National
Science day 2020 – ‘Women in Science’and briefed on how the various events of
Science Association were conducted.
Dr.G.Vimala Rosaline, the principal of the institution, appreciated the
students for their enthusiasm. She
insisted the students on protecting nature for a better future. The chief guest of the function,
Dr.T.Lalitha, Associate Professor, MCA, Sona College of Technology, delivered
the chief guest address. She detailed
the scope for the future engineers in software and robotic fields. She also motivated the students to be updated
with the technology by doing courses in NPTEL.
Later a mime show and a science debate were conducted and the gathering
enjoyed both the events.
