There were many highlights in yesterday’s meeting. First of all, we had a new comer to the editorial team. It was H. Sathya Narayanan of III year CSE. It is to be noted that the poster for advertising our GCE Chronicles Students Edition 1 within college was voluntarily designed and submitted to the team by our new Chrony which made Chitra ma’m herself took in such a selfless person to the team.
It was a great disappointment for ma’m when she came to know R. R. Prasanth of II yr Mechanical has received his transfer order to Govt. College of Technology, Coimbatore. He is the second Chrony to get transferred from our college, Arun Ravindran, a former student of ECE dept., 2009-2013 batch, being the first one to get transferred to the same institution.
It was pleasant to hear from ma’m that about fifteen II year students were voluntary to be a part of the newsletter team. Hence, their proposal is under consideration. She also happily informed us that the sanction letter from the principal, for the ‘Department Colour Printer’ is under rapid progress. At once we are provided with printer, we will start to print our own hard copy versions of both the editions of our newsletters launched till now.
After I shared some of my memories and technical aspects related with the earlier publications as I promised, I informed them about a new activity which is going to be carried out in our GCE Newsletter blog. It is nothing but the newly enabled page in this blog called “GCE Chronicles’ Timeline”. My idea is to update that page with the link whenever our Chief Editor, Dr. S. K. Chitra Lakshimi posts an info about our newsletter in her blog – www.smilewithchitra.blogspot.com. This idea was accepted by mam and even all the other chronies felt that it would also be a reference for the earlier updates about the newsletter from the day since the idea to bring out a newsletter for our college was proposed.
The layout for the Annual Edition 2011 is to be prepared soon and our first deadline to compile the reports about various departments would be September 28th, again a Wednesday. We won’t be meeting next Wednesday as it is a local holiday for Salem declared by the district collector due to the annual “Tiruvizha” festival of Kottai Mariamman Kovil at Old Bus Stand. Hence, we called it a day after fixing our next meeting date as August 24th.
