Coffee with the Principal

The official meeting of the Chronies with the principal was scheduled to take place by 5pm on the 27^th of July. A pretty excited team prepared itself to face the dynamic and head person of the institution, Dr. R. S. D. Wahida Banu. We all sat in front of her, staring at the long list of degrees that went behind her long name. It is common news amidst all GCEians that Wahida Banu Ma’m is the first woman principal of the college and one can have no doubts about her charisma and enthusiasm about the development of the college in all spheres.

The head Chronies- Navaneeth, Arpita and the Head of the Department of English, Dr. S. K. Chitra Lakshimi who is also the Editor-in-Chief of GCE Chronicles took the onus of explaining the activities of the newsletter team in the college. The principal listened to the team and also posted a few queries to the team. She assigned a few tasks to us beyond the newsletter and it is clear that the team will have a lot of work to do rather than publishing the newsletter. It was of course a moment of pride for the chronies for the amount of trust and expectation the vibrant personality had in us.

It is quite clear that the responsibilities of the chronies have increased a lot and we will have to work hard to impress the principal and all others. Well over an hour, the meeting ended with final explanations and confirmations about what she expected of us and what the team expected from the institution. The principal assured us that the team would get all the necessary help from the institution and encouraged us to carry out our works with excellence.

The principal’s actions show very well that she is concerned about improving the 46-year old institution with whatever she can using the power in her hands. Many thanks to the support and her brilliance do inspire everyone around her. We are sure to see a lot more of those qualities and hopefully incur some of them.
